FAQ

  • Not at all! Everyone is welcome, beginners and experts. To be a tiered member however, you must have prior experiece.

  • With each session, the student is provided with a 25lb bag of white stoneware (cone 6).

    All tools will be available for use in the studio, provided by Pottery For The People. You may bring your own tools. We provide in-house glazes and kiln firing services. Each student is allotted one shelf per session. Tiered members may bring their clay of choice, cone 6 required.

  • Yes! 25 lbs. bag of assorted clays can be bought in house for $40.

  • Bring your enthusiasm and creativity! A towel and an apron are strongly recommended. We do have aprons for sale in our retail gallery.

  • We offer firing services for $50 per shelf, per fire.

  • In the process of ceramics, there are 2 firings. First, the vessels are fired to cone 06, 1800°F/990°C turning the vessel into “bisqueware”. After applying a food-safe glaze, a second firing is done to cone 6, 2200°F/ 1200°C.

  • Your ceramic piece goes through 2 firings. The first firing is called a bisque firing and the 2nd firing is called a glaze firing. Each firing takes about 16 hours. You should receive your work around 4 weeks after your clay night. Session students will receive their work within 1 week after the sessions end.

  • Nothing! These words are interchangeable. Some people call it pottery, some people call it ceramics!

  • This is a place to make pottery! Pottery for the People is a fully immersive ceramics studio. You will learn how to make forms with clay. The piece will go through a bisque firing, then a glaze application will be applied and the piece will be fired again, making it food-safe!

  • Clay nights and try out tuesdays are non-refundable but we can reschedule as long as you give us at least 48 hours notice. We will try to work with you, so just reach out as soon as you can.

  • Sure! You can bring your own clay, as long as it fires to cone 6.

  • Yes! We offer different kinds of pottery classes! Here at Pottery for the People, we call them sessions and clay night!

  • A session is a 4-6 week long course, in a session, you will go more in-depth learning all the steps taken to get to a finished piece. Clay Night is a 2-hour immersive experience where you will only focus on the construction of a vessel. On clay night, experts will glaze and finish your piece for you.

  • Yes, seasonally! Please check website for updates or give us a call! Kids 12 and up can come to clay night.
